LAKE AREA CHAMBER HISTORY
Our Story: Built on Collaboration, Driven by Growth
The Lake Area Chamber of Commerce has deep roots in this community. It all began in the Fall of 1934, when forward-thinking business owners gathered in Zebra (now known as Osage Beach) to form the Grand Glaize/Osage Beach Chamber. Thirteen years later, in November 1947, another group of entrepreneurs came together in Lake Ozark to establish the Bagnell Dam Chamber.
For decades, both Chambers served their communities independently—until a shared vision brought them together. In 1981, after thoughtful discussion and collaboration, members from both organizations voted overwhelmingly in favor of merging, with 90% support. The Lake Area Chamber of Commerce was officially born in 1982, uniting 160 members under one banner.
Today, we've grown to become the largest of the five chambers surrounding the Lake of the Ozarks, proudly serving over 500 member businesses across the region.
From our founding to today, our mission remains the same: championing the businesses that make the Lake of the Ozarks thrive.
